Electric vehicle battery breakthrough is not as good as the expected

Another enlightened policy-makers and who is committed to reducing emissions from large, as the conversion of natural gas, from the results of the U.S. vehicle fleet as a driving force, as soon as possible environmental activists frustrated electric vehicles. By the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) latest sony vgp-bps8 battery research shows that this will not happen before 2020, even though a number of ideas put forward, the Government’s task.

The reason is because it has been working with for decades - the batterys electrical storage capacity constraints mean that it can not be cost-competitive quickly enough so that they can provide the best transportation prices, to make their product prices and features types, so that their ideal consumers.

Over the years, it has been said that one of the keys in order to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, is the team’s electrified, said:” Xavier Mosquet, headquartered in Detroit, the leader of Boston Consulting Group’s global automotive practice and study co - author. “The reality is that the battery electric vehicles are too expensive sony vgp-bps9 battery, sony vgp-bps10 battery and technically for this limited for the foreseeable future.”

BCG’s research report pointed out that the lithium-ion batteries may be in the majority of electric vehicle use in the next decade, lighter, more powerful than the nickel-metal hydride used in hybrid electric vehicles are the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight unit.

Car manufacturers assumed the electric vehicle batteries to achieve the same cost per kilowat hours (kilowatt-hour of electricity consumer electronics products, the price level) is 250 U.S. dollars between the $ 40 billion kwh. At present, lithium-ion hp pavilion dv2 battery, hp pavilion dv6 battery to produce more power and lasted longer than nickel hyrdide units, but doing so in the 1,000 to 1,200 U.S. dollars per kilowatt-hour of costly.

Car manufacturers said that for years, their commitment to technological advances and increased consumer demand will drive the cost per kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery cells compared to the level, consumer electronics batteries. However, BCG’s research shows that simply does not occur as early as 2020.

In addition to lower costs, access to a significant lithiom-ion batteries used in cars and trucks, and must meet more stringest safety and reliability than any other battery standards.

Even so, the BCG impressive growth forecast in the world of electric vehicles, about 2020 sold for every one of the four new models, is not all-electric or in the United States, dell vostro 1310 battery , dell studio 1735 battery Western Europe, China and Japan hybrids) for 14 mllion or total result. This is not exactly a small market, while the estimated value of 25 yuan blllion, according to BCG.

This emerging market will be about three times that today’s full-size lithium-ion batteries such as notebook computers and mobile phone markets, consumer applications, said:” Mosquet.

$350 million for electric car company boosting

An Israeli-American entrepreneur has brought in a $350 million investment to help finance his ambitious plan to lay down the world’s first electric car grid by next year, his company announced Tuesday.

Project Better Place said it signed an agreement sony vgp-bps8 battery with an HSBC-led investor consortium that marks one of the largest clean-tech investments in history. Other investors included Morgan Stanley Investment Management and Lazard Asset Management.

Better Place’s founder, 41-year-old Shai Agassi, called the HSBC move a “validating step of investing in a private company intent on bringing innovation to the trillion-dollar automotive and energy industries.” Agassi’s company is valued at $1.25 billion with the new financing.

The project’s backers say the electric car would drastically reduce oil dependence, cut carbon emissions and blaze a trail for more environmentally friendly means of transportation. But experts caution that technical pitfalls, such as a limited battery range, must be overcome before the car will be marketable.

Another sony vgp-bpl8 battery looming challenge is the huge investment needed in charging stations for the cars.

Other car manufacturers are gambling on gas-electric hybrids as the green cars of the immediate future, but the HSBC-led investment signals growing confidence in the fully electric model.

Israel’s government endorsed the project two years ago, and the country is slated to be the first to have electric cars on its highways in large numbers, starting next year.

The Danish energy company DONG Energy AS has adopted the Better Place model and plans to have thousands of cars running on electricity generated by wind turbines by 2011.

The Israeli project is a joint venture between Renault-Nissan, which will provide the electric vehicles, and Agassi’s Silicon Valley-based startup Project Better Place, which will operate the recharging grid. The replacement and charging of the lithium-ion sony vgp-bps13 batteries is supposed to work like cell phone batteries.

Drivers will pay a monthly subscription for the batteries, with different plans like those of cell phone users. The company says the rates will come to less than the average monthly expenditure on gasoline.

As part of the deal, HSBC’s head of global capital financing, Kevin Adeson, will join Better Place’s board of directors and HSBC will own approximately 10 percent hp pavilion dv6 battery of the company’s shares.

We are confident that Better Place has the technical and commercial solutions to allow for the mass adoption of electric cars in the near term,” Adeson said in a statement.

The Better Place switchable battery solution, which addresses the range limitation of fixed battery electric cars, will offer the consumer an affordable and attractive alternative to current combustion engine and hybrid vehicles.”

Israel has been touted as the ideal laboratory toGW240G1947 RN873 Y6142,GK479 test Agassis vision because of its high gasoline prices (around $6.30 a gallon), dense population centers and supportive government. Some 90 percent of Israeli car owners drive less than 45 miles per day, and the country’s major urban centers are less than 100 miles apart, making the use of dell studio 1735 battery operated cars more feasible than in countries with longer commutes.

Green cars are also particularly attractive to Israel, which hopes to weaken the political clout of its oil-rich enemies.
